A family business
25 years ago, the dream began of what would prove to be our true passion and calling.
It all began when the founder of the company, Susanne, had just given birth to her first daughter, Victoria Vanilla. After settling for the small selection of colours and quality with her first three children, she decided to create a more colourful and child-oriented selection for her last child.
So, Susanne, together with her friend Susanne Rasmussen, started sewing children's textile products - this was the starting point for the adventure.
They sewed duvet covers, pillowcases, bedspreads, and much more. The children loved it, and so did their friends. So they sewed even more. They sewed day and night, and soon they had to expand.
From the beginning, Vanilla Copenhagen was part of the Mikkelsen family, and about 22 years later, one generation became two in the company. Mark Mikkelsen, Susanne's second child, started working for the company, and today they work side by side to run the family business.
