The story of byASTRUP®
The by ASTRUP® brand emerged from the need to process our grief over the loss of our youngest daughter while simultaneously passing on Marie's caring nature and sense of creativity. That's why I, Anette Astrup Petersen, founded the by ASTRUP® brand in 2018.
April 12, 1996, was a wonderful, unforgettable day; we became the proud parents of our fourth child, Marie - a sister to our three older children, Mette, Morten, and Mads. As a child, Marie was a self-proclaimed "toy tester" in our toy company. She was a sister who was always busy with something. As she grew older, she also participated in the creative product development processes in the company, which involved trips to suppliers in China.
She developed a love for travel, and at 17, she embarked on an adventure: a month-long language trip to Beijing. But just as Marie returned from her adventure in Beijing, tragedy struck the family. In August 2013, Marie was diagnosed with acute leukemia. What followed were two terrible years of chemotherapy, a difficult bone marrow transplant, and a seven-month stay in the hospital's intensive care unit.
But Marie's love for adventure and creativity never disappeared, even though she was confined to a hospital ward.
